Remembering Black Monday, Avoiding the Next One

Forty-five years ago, on the morning Sept. 19, 1977, thousands of men walked into the Campbell Works of Youngstown Sheet and Tube in Youngstown, Ohio, only to be told that their lives, and the lives of thousands more, were about to change forever: The steel plant was closed. Over 5,000 workers were abruptly furloughed in one day.
