Amid Philly’s ongoing gun violence crisis, educators are making changes they hope will better protect children. WHYY News reporters took a close look at some of their efforts.

Tomás Hanna, of the state Department of Education, said the goal of the program is to expose young people, particularly people of color, to careers in education.

The state will distribute up to $50,000 each to 33 career and technical centers and two school districts that were selected through a competitive grant process.
